Swampscott High School is looking for a dedicated Physics(e.g.) Teacher to help us uphold our commitment to academic excellence, create meaningful opportunities for students, and strengthen our collaborative school community In this role, you will be responsible for the primary function of designing and implementing high-quality, standards-aligned instruction that meets the diverse needs of all learners within an inclusive environment. Guided by the district's C.O.R.E. values —Community, Opportunity, Respect, and Equity—you will foster a safe, respectful classroom culture, engage in continuous professional reflection, and collaborate with families and staff to ensure every student is prepared for success in college, career, and citizenship.
Essential Functions Instructional Leadership & Mathematical Practice Curriculum Delivery:
Design and execute engaging, rigorous lessons across a variety of high school courses, which may include Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and other department offerings as needed.Technological Integration:
Effectively utilize educational tools such as Smartboards, Promethean boards, and graphing calculators/Desmos to enhance mathematical conceptual understanding.Data-Informed Instruction:
Use digital platforms—including Aspen, Google Classroom, and G-Suite Apps—to manage student data, facilitate learning, and communicate progress.Growth Mindset:
Implement pedagogical strategies that foster a growth mindset in students, encouraging persistence and high-level problem-solving.Collaboration & Communication Stakeholder Engagement:
Maintain excellent interpersonal and communication skills with all stakeholders, including students, colleagues, and families/caregivers.Cultural Competency:
Demonstrate a commitment to cultural competency, ensuring instructional practices and classroom environments are inclusive and representative of a diverse student body.Teamwork:
Work flexibly and enthusiastically as part of a collaborative secondary math department to meet district learning goals.Professional Reliability Consistent Attendance:
Maintain punctuality and consistent attendance to ensure instructional continuity and the effective supervision and safety of all students.Continuous Improvement:
Participate in professional development and departmental planning to stay current with mathematical standards and high school pedagogy.Qualifications Required Licensure:
Valid Massachusetts Educator License in Mathematics (9-12) .Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics required (Master's Degree preferred).Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years of high school teaching experience.SEI Endorsement:
Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) endorsement required.Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Aspen, Zoom, Google Classroom, and G-Suite Apps.Compliance:
Successful completion of a Massachusetts CORI and fingerprint-based background check. Preferred Experience designing and implementing engaging, tiered lessons for diverse learners. Familiarity with interactive whiteboards and modern graphing software.
