POSITION SUMMARY
The Elementary Mathematics Learning Specialist serves as an instructional coach, school team facilitator, data analyst, professional learning provider, and liaison between schools and the Department of Instruction. This Learning Specialist will support the professional growth of staff by strengthening their understanding of Maryland College and Career Ready Standards, Maryland Numeracy Development Framework, Multi-tiered system of supports, implementation of the CCPS Tier 1 Math curriculum, progress monitoring, and instructional best practices related to mathematics in the content areas.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
At the time of application, the candidate must hold or be eligible for: A Maryland Advanced Professional Certificate. A minimum of five (5) years successful teaching experience.

Demonstrated ability to develop and implement professional learning for staff, parents, and community members. Demonstrated ability with technology as a tool for learning. Demonstrated ability in retrieving and analyzing student achievement data, targeting learning deficits, and adjusting instruction to extend learning standards and to fill learning gaps. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND DUTIES
Participates in ongoing training in the implementation of the Maryland College and Career Ready Standards, UDL, MTSS, and corresponding instructional practices in alignment with CCPS Math Curriculum. Supports the implementation of Maryland College and Career Ready Standards by assisting in content development and curriculum and assessment alignment. Develops and presents professional development for staff in the areas of mathematics, the Maryland College and Career Ready Standards, UDL, MTSS, and related instructional practices. Works collaboratively with classroom teachers to teach, coach, and/or model best practices in numeracy across content areas. Participates in and provides training workshops for parents and community members to enhance their understanding of learning practices. Works closely with the Department of Instruction and the Department of Special Education to adequately monitor the progress of students in terms of the Maryland College and Career Ready Standards, School Improvement Plans, and the Strategic Plan and the CCPS Math Comprehensive plan. Assists staff in analyzing and using data to inform and improve instruction and learning practices related to elementary mathematics. Assist staff in identifying appropriate materials of instruction to address the needs of all students. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence by attending professional learning opportunities. Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices. Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities. Maintains regular, on-time attendance. Serves on special committees. Possesses a practical knowledge of current classroom technology. Possesses a valid driver's license and motor vehicle insurance.
PHYSICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL CONDITIONS/DEMANDS
Position requires significant periods of standing and walking and is performed in a typical school environment. Employees are required to interact well with others. Employees are expected to come to work regularly and promptly. Employees must be able to work under stress and meet all deadlines.
UNUSUAL DEMANDS
Will be subject to a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends and working across the system at multiple schools.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Eleven (11) month position and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience applied to the current Calvert County Public Schools salary schedule for teachers. If selected for this position, the candidate is encouraged to enroll in direct deposit.
EVALUATION
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the policy on evaluation as established by the Calvert County Public Schools.
