ABOUT KIPP MICHIGAN

Currently, KIPP Michigan operates 1 school: KIPP Detroit Imani Academy [Elementary School]. KIPP Detroit Imani Academy is the state of Michigan's first KIPP school. And the first KIPP school in the city of Detroit. KIPP Detroit Imani Academy opened in the fall of 2022 in the Warrendale neighborhood on the west side of Detroit. We believe the destiny of students from Detroit are limitless and students should not be bound by their circumstances. Unfortunately, in America, there is still a link between socioeconomic status and educational attainment. KIPP Detroit Imani Academy seeks to eradicate this injustice. JOB DESCRIPTION
In school year 2022-2023, KIPP Imani launched with Kindergarten and has added grades each year; it will, eventually serve students in grades K-5. The founding team at KIPP Imani has included Grade-Level teachers, Diverse Learning teachers, Paraprofessionals and Elective Teachers. KIPP Detroit Imani Academy will also be supported by an operations team and student support team to ensure a strong foundation for the school's continued founding and growth.
Position Overview:
The STEM Teacher at KIPP Michigan plays a vital teacher-leadership role in sustaining and enhancing high standards of academic achievement and instructional practice. The STEM Teacher will work directly with students to provide targeted support aimed at improving math skills. This role involves leading Tier I instruction for high priority grade(s) and/or classrooms; and collaborating with self-contained/all subject(s) teachers, paraprofessionals, parents, and other school staff to develop and implement effective strategies for students struggling with mathematical concepts.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Excellence Deliver Tier I mathematics, science, and social studies instruction for high priority grade(s) and/or classrooms based on data-driven schoolwide need(s) Deliver Tier 2 and Tier 3 math interventions in push in setting(s) - and pullout when necessary - using practices aligned to the four components of rigorous math instruction: fluency, concept development, application, and discourse Collaborate with instructional leaders to determine high-leverage action steps aligned to schoolwide data, including but not limited to: regrouping students, adjusting grade-wide strategy, and curricular improvements to support long-term strategic planning goals Data-Driven Growth Administer and analyze diagnostic and progress-monitoring tools (i.e.
NWEA, MAP
Growth) Use data to identify skill gaps (e.g. fluency, calculation) and tailor instruction accordingly Monitor and document student progress regularly, adjusting instruction based on student mastery and response to intervention. Collaboration and Capacity Building Collaborate with instructional leaders to align interventions with core Math instruction and support transfer of skills Contribute to MTSS structures by interpreting numeracy data and make decisions about support and acceleration Summer Responsibilities (June-August): Strategic Planning Collaborate with school leaders to analyze year-end data, evaluate instructional priorities, and establish strategic goals for the new school year Professional Development Attend or facilitate summer PD sessions focused on: Eureka Math curriculum implementation Data-driven instruction Intervention protocols and best practices Support training for new teachers on Tier 1 & 2 supports Curriculum and Resources Preparation Review, revise, or organize intervention materials and scope & sequences Prepare targeted practice, manipulatives, intervention resources, and data trackers School-Wide Numeracy Readiness Assist with preparing materials & plan of attack for school-wide benchmark assessments (i.e. NWEA) and annual summative assessments (i.e. M-STEP) Set up data systems (Google Sheets, trackers, etc) for intervention tracking Contribute to math events or initiatives (e.g., family math night planning, community incentives) Conduct math screening(s) for incoming students (new enrollees)
Qualifications:
Valid state teaching certification (Required) Minimum of 2 years of successful teaching experience in a high-performing school environment Demonstrated expertise in instructional leadership, curriculum design, and professional development facilitation Deep knowledge of evidence-based instructional strategies and student learning theory Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Michigan is the Educational Service Provider to KIPP Detroit Imani Academy. As such, KIPP Michigan is the employer for this role.
COMPENSATION KIPP
Michigan offers a competitive compensation and benefits package: Salaries based on certification status and years of experience, ranging from $50,000 - $60,000 for this role Competitive rates for medical insurance. Dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance,accidental death, and long-term disability insurance are offered at an affordable cost to the employee. Short-term disability is offered at no cost to the employee. Competitive retirement savings benefits Stipends for additional leadership and enrichment leadership, as available
