Job Description

Mathematics Instructor Location 1512 Kemper Street Scooba, MS Job Type Full-time Job Number 00443 Department Instruction Division Academics-Scooba Opening Date 05/27/2026 Description The individual instructor is the key figure in the educational pattern of the college, and his/her attitude, personality, skill, character, and initiative will determine how well the college fulfills its objectives. He/she plays a prominent role in curriculum development through continual evaluation. Duties 1. Teaches all classes and labs as assigned; 2. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the subject; 3. Communicates with students the goals, objectives, and expectations of the course; 4. Assigns learning activities which promote understanding of the course content; 5. Keeps accurate records of attendance and grades and submits all reports and other requested information promptly and accurately; 6. Maintains discipline in the classroom; 7. Attends faculty meetings and other required meetings as prescribed; 8. Meets all classes promptly and regularly and begins and ends class on time; 9. Participates actively in professional development opportunities in the discipline; 10. Maintains required office and class hours; 11. Serves as sponsor and advisor for student clubs and organizations as appropriate; 12. Advises students with class schedules; 13. Serves on college councils and committees as assigned; 14. Effectively communicates with, cooperates with and supports other college personnel in daily activities.
Qualifications and Required Documents Education:
Master's degree is required for Academic instructors. Career/Technical instructors may hold appropriate degrees, certification, and work experience as required.
Other Requirements:
1. Supports the College mission implicitly and explicitly in the daily execution of all duties and responsibilities; 2. Actively participates in maintaining an effective and continuous recruiting program; 3. Participates in Institutional Effectiveness activities; 4. Represents the College in a professional manner as evidenced by dress, demeanor and the discharge of daily responsibilities; 5. Fulfills other duties as assigned by the President and/or supervisor.
