Job Description:
Duke School, a nationally recognized leader in project-based learning, seeks an experienced Lower School Teacher to join our inquiry-driven community in Durham, North Carolina for thw 2026-2027 year. Grounded in rigorous, joyful, developmentally informed teaching, we empower students and educators to grow, collaborate, and lead with purpose. As a Lower School Teacher, you will:
  • Serve as a co-teacher in a Lower School classroom (2 teachers/classroom of ~24 students), sharing responsibility for planning, instruction, assessment, classroom management, and family communication
  • Co-plan and lead interdisciplinary, inquiry-based projects as well as reading, writing, and math using a workshop approach
  • Build strong relationships with students and families to support each chid's development.
  • Participate in a rich culture of prodessional development designed to support continuous growth and practice.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, reflective faculty culture. Who You Are
