This position serves as the primary daily point of contact for students assigned to the Remote Charter Academy and ensures student engagement, academic progress, attendance compliance, and successful completion of coursework through Edmentum and other instructional platforms. The RCA Teacher collaborates closely with Instructional Technology Facilitators (ITF), Library Media Specialists (LMS), Exceptional Children (EC) staff, families, and administration to provide individualized academic support and promote student achievement.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Instruction and Student Support Deliver daily instruction to both in-person and virtual students in assigned content areas. Provide targeted intervention based on student mastery gaps, assessment data, and academic performance indicators. Facilitate small-group and individual reteaching sessions to address learning deficiencies. Monitor student progress in Edmentum, IXL, Reading Plus, and other instructional platforms. Grade assignments, document academic progress, and maintain accurate student records. Attendance and Student Engagement Monitor daily attendance for in-person and virtual students. Conduct timely outreach to absent students and families. Document all communication and attendance interventions in designated systems. Foster a positive learning environment that promotes student engagement and accountability. Intervention and Academic Monitoring Identify students requiring intervention based on attendance, course progress, mastery lockouts, and assessment performance. Collaborate with the ITF to support intervention scheduling and student success planning. Participate in progress monitoring and goal-setting conferences with students. Implement individualized academic support strategies to improve student outcomes. Family and Stakeholder Communication Maintain regular communication with families regarding student attendance, academic progress, and behavioral concerns. Provide weekly progress updates and recommendations for student success. Collaborate with EC staff, counselors, Family Support Specialists, and administration to support student needs. Compliance and Documentation Maintain accurate attendance, communication logs, intervention records, and student progress documentation. Ensure compliance with state, district, and charter school policies and procedures. Support testing administration, academic monitoring, and graduation planning requirements. Document accommodations and coordinate support for students with IEPs and 504 Plans. Collaboration and Continuous Improvement Collaborate regularly with Instructional Technology Facilitators, Library Media Specialists, subject-area teachers, and administration. Participate in professional development activities and staff meetings. Provide feedback regarding instructional resources and intervention effectiveness. Support school improvement initiatives and data-driven instructional practices. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of instructional best practices for secondary students in both in-person and virtual learning environments. Strong understanding of intervention strategies and differentiated instruction. Ability to analyze student data and implement targeted instructional responses. Proficiency with educational technology platforms including Microsoft Teams, Edmentum, IXL, Reading Plus, and student information systems. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced educational environment. Commitment to student success, accountability, and continuous improvement. Education and Experience RequiredRequired Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Valid North Carolina teaching license in Mathematics. Minimum of two years of successful teaching experience preferred. Experience utilizing instructional technology and data-driven instructional practices. Preferred Experience teaching in a virtual, blended, or hybrid learning environment. Dual certification in ELA and Mathematics. Experience with Edmentum, IXL, Reading Plus, STARS, or similar educational platforms. Experience supporting intervention programs and at-risk student populations.
Pay:
$50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
