Job Description

Position Overview Phoenix Academy is seeking a full-time Classroom Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. We are looking for an educator who can create a positive, structured, and engaging learning environment while supporting students academically, socially, and emotionally. Experience in public, private, and/or Montessori school settings is valued. About Phoenix Academy Phoenix Academy is an accredited, nonprofit private K-8 school in Omaha, Nebraska, serving students who are behind grade level in reading and math. For more than 30 years, we have provided small class sizes, individualized support, and research-based instruction designed to help students build academic skills and confidence. Our reading program emphasizes strong phonics instruction, while our math program supports students across a range of concepts from addition through pre-algebra. Students attend from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., August through May, and come from school districts across the Omaha metro as well as communities throughout Nebraska and Iowa. Our staff is made up of dedicated professionals committed to helping students succeed in school and in life. Role Summary The Classroom Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering instruction, supporting student growth, maintaining a positive classroom culture, and partnering with families and colleagues to meet student needs. Responsibilities Develop and implement lesson plans aligned to curriculum standards Provide differentiated instruction to meet individual student needs Create a supportive classroom environment that promotes engagement and collaboration Assess student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback Communicate regularly with parents regarding student performance and classroom updates Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum, instruction, and student support Support students' academic and personal growth through encouragement and guidance Manage classroom behavior effectively to promote safety, respect, and responsibility Participate in professional development and ongoing learning opportunities Qualifications Current Nebraska teacher certification, or ability to obtain certification within six months of employment Bachelor's degree in Education or completion of an accredited teacher certification program Strong classroom management skills Strong lesson planning and instructional design skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Prior classroom teaching experience preferred Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs Knowledge of effective instructional practices and curriculum development Commitment to working with students who are behind grade level
