This position is ideal for an educator who understands that success in mathematics is built through strong relationships, engaging instruction, and a commitment to meeting students where they are academically and emotionally. We are looking for a teacher who can bring fresh, innovative ideas to the classroom while helping students develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and confidence in their abilities. The successful candidate will thrive in a challenging yet highly rewarding environment and embrace the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people. •Salary commensurate with experience. Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging mathematics instruction aligned with New York State Learning Standards. Develop creative and relevant learning experiences that make mathematics accessible and meaningful to all learners. Differentiate instruction to address a wide range of academic abilities and learning styles. Foster a positive, structured classroom environment that promotes student engagement and success. Build supportive relationships with students while maintaining consistent expectations and accountability. Utilize assessment data to monitor progress and inform instructional decisions. Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, administrators, and families to support student achievement. Integrate technology and real-world applications to enhance student learning and engagement. Job Qualifications Qualifications Valid New York State Certification in Mathematics 7-12 (or eligibility for certification). Strong instructional and classroom management skills. Understanding of ACES (Adverse Childhood Experiences) and trauma-informed educational practices. Ability to remain patient, flexible, and solution-oriented in a dynamic educational setting. Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Commitment to supporting students in an alternative education environment. TEACH Clearance Per Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, to be employed in a position designated by a school district or BOCES as involving direct contact with students, a clearance for employment from the State Education Department is required. Formal job offer/selection is contingent on ability to obtain a fingerprint security clearance through the TEACH system prior to working.
