Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
At Breakthrough Public Schools, we have interventionists who specialize in math, and we distinguish between elementary and middle school. This narrowed focus both in subject and grade band allows for maximum impact for our scholars. The Math Interventionist Teacher provides targeted Tier 3 instruction to K-8 students who require additional academic support in reading. This role focuses on implementing evidence-based interventions, assessing student progress, and collaborating with teachers, parents, and support staff to improve student achievement in alignment with Breakthrough's MTSS framework.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Create, implement, and monitor intervention plans for Tier 2 and/or Tier 3 scholars Provide daily targeted small-group instruction using the Network-aligned curricula Maintain accurate records (data-collection) of student performance and interventions provided Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and strategies to support learning at home Collaborate closely with the building level MTSS Coordinator and the network-level Director of MTSS Attend and participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and Reading & Math Interventionist PLC/department meetings Perform school-wide duties as assigned by your school leadership team - (e.g., dismissal duty, lunch duty, arrival duty, etc.) Reports to the assigned Assistant Principal of Instruction or Assistant Principal of Student Services
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
Experience:
3 - 5 years successful teaching experience Experience in reading and/or math intervention, preferably within a Title/ Intervention Program Knowledge of research-based instructional strategies, assessments, and intervention programs. Ability to progress monitor and keep highly detailed data analysis of student needs and growth Strong Data Analysis skills to drive instruction and monitor progress Aligning targeted interventions to support Tier 2 and 3 scholars in the MTSS process Licensure and Certification(s): Valid Professional teaching license/certification in the appropriate subject area and grade level - see Reading/Math specific qualifications, below Candidate must possess a valid driver's license with a driving record in accordance with the BPS's acceptable guidelines. Math Specific Qualifications Math Specialist endorsement Familiarity with iReady Curriculum and pathways preferred
Technical Skills and Knowledge:
Strong collaboration and communication skills Proficiency in using educational technology to support instruction and data analysis Proficient in Google Suite Robust analytical and problem solving skills Ability to be a self-starter and take initiative Empathy and trauma-sensitive approach
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Performs work in an office setting with moderate levels of noise, sitting for long periods of time, repetitive motion using computers and phones, with exposure to fluorescent lighting
