4th-8th Grade Honors Math Teacher Honors Math Teacher (Grades 5-8) School Pope John Paul Ii Regional Catholic Elementary School 2875 Manor Road West Brandywine, Pa. 19302 Role Summary We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and faith-filled educator to join our faculty as a 5th-8th Grade Honors Math Teacher. The ideal candidate is an outstanding middle-grade mathematician and educator who fosters a growth mindset, mathematical rigor, and critical problem-solving skills in advanced learners. As a teacher in a Catholic school, the candidate will integrate Catholic values into the educational experience, nurturing each student's academic, spiritual, and moral growth. Key ResponsibilitiesFaith Leadership & Community Integration Integrate Catholic values, teachings, and Christian charity into the daily classroom environment and instructional content. Lead students in daily prayer and actively participate in school-wide Liturgies, prayer services, and spiritual retreats. Model a living Catholic faith and cultivate a welcoming, respectful, and joyful learning environment based on Gospel values. Instructional Excellence & Curriculum Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, rigorous mathematics instruction for advanced/honors students in Grades 5 through 8 (covering Advanced Arithmetic, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, and Geometry readiness). Utilize diverse teaching methodologies, including hands-on manipulatives, real-world problem-solving, and STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, and Math) applications. Incorporate technology effectively into daily instruction and learning management systems (e.g., Google Classroom, interactive display boards, digital math programs). Maintain and oversee specialized classroom resources and math manipulatives, including lab sign-out procedures and equipment care. Differentiated Learning & Assessment Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of academically gifted and talented learners, ensuring appropriate pacing and intellectual challenge. Formulate and administer regular formative and summative assessments to gauge student mastery and track progress over time. Use diagnostic assessment tools (e.g., i-Ready, standardized benchmarks) to analyze data and guide instructional decisions. Prepare students for high school placement exams and advanced mathematics pathways. Classroom Management & Professional Communication Establish and maintain a positive, well-structured, and organized classroom environment grounded in mutual respect and clear expectations. Maintain open, timely, and professional communication with parents and guardians regarding student academic progress, effort, and behavioral development. Collaborate closely with grade-level team members, learning support specialists, and elementary math teachers to ensure smooth vertical curriculum alignment. Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development workshops, and Diocesan/Archdiocesan inservice opportunities.

Qualifications & Requirements Faith:

Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church preferred, committed to the mission of Catholic education.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Middle Level Mathematics Education, Secondary Mathematics, or Elementary Education with a concentration/endorsement in Mathematics (Master's degree preferred).

Certification:

Valid State Teaching Certificate in Middle School Math (Grades 4-8) or Secondary Mathematics (Grades 7-12), or eligibility to obtain certification.

Experience:

Minimum of 2-3 years of successful middle school teaching experience preferred, with proven expertise in advanced/honors mathematics curricula.

Clearances & Training:

Must pass all mandatory federal, state, and Archdiocesan background checks (Criminal History, Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Fingerprinting) and complete required Safe Environment training prior to employment. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Deep knowledge of middle school mathematics standards, algebraic concepts, and advanced problem-solving strategies. Strong classroom management skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and manage high-achieving students. Proficiency with educational technology, digital gradebooks, and blended learning tools. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of and experience with IXL Physical Demands Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the classroom during instruction. Ability to supervise middle school students across various school environments (classroom, hallways, school assemblies, outdoor areas). Ability to lift instructional materials and supplies up to 20 lbs.
