Job Description

Description:
George School, an all-gender Quaker boarding/day school located in Newtown, PA, seeks a part-time teacher of Mathematics beginning August 2026 for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Responsibilities:
George School has a modified block schedule of 7 terms. The faculty teach 2 classes per term for 6 terms, and 3 classes for 1 term. Responsible for all aspects of lesson planning, instruction, and assessment. Foster a dynamic, interactive, and engaging learning environment. Partner collaboratively with other members of department. Serve on a school committee (waived in the first year). Advise approximately ten students (waived in the first year). Perform other community contributions, which may include coaching a sport, supervising a club, social or dorm activities, or evening study hall.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in mathematics; advanced degree preferred. Ability to teach the full range of math courses, from Algebra and Geometry to Calculus and beyond. Experience teaching Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate curricula preferred. Experience using or integrating technology tools to enhance teaching and learning. An openness to exploring innovative teaching strategies and emerging technologies. Demonstrated ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs. A willingness to take pedagogical risks to enhance student learning experiences. Dedication to supporting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of students. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment. Interest in being a part of the community life of a boarding school. Commitment to working towards antiracism and developing and practicing cultural competency. Commitment to the traditions and philosophy of a Quaker educational community. Ability to work with a diverse student population and a style consistent with Quaker values.
