The successful candidates will provide rigorous, student-centered instruction in Mathematics and contribute to a collaborative and high-performing department.
Position Overview:
East Greenwich High School is seeking a knowledgeable, student-centered Secondary Mathematics Teacher to join our mathematics department. The successful candidate will provide high-quality instruction in foundational secondary mathematics courses, i.e., Algebra and Geometry. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong instructional practices, the ability to support a range of learners, and a commitment to fostering student growth and confidence in mathematics.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach assigned secondary mathematics courses aligned to Rhode Island standards and district curriculum expectations.

Develop and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons that promote conceptual understanding and mathematical reasoning.

Differentiate instruction to meet the academic needs of diverse learners, including students requiring additional support and enrichment.

Utilize formative and summative assessment data to inform instructional planning and monitor student progress.

Maintain a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment conducive to student learning.

Collaborate with mathematics department colleagues, special educators, school counselors, and support staff to support student achievement.

Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff regarding academic progress and classroom expectations.

Participate in department meetings, professional learning opportunities, curriculum development, and school-wide initiatives.

Support the schools mission, Vision of the Graduate competencies, and commitment to academic excellence.
Qualifications:
Valid Rhode Island Educator Certificate in Mathematics (Grades 712) required.

Strong content knowledge in Algebra and Geometry.

Ability to scaffold instruction and support students with varying levels of mathematical readiness.

Knowledge of effective instructional practices, assessment strategies, and classroom management techniques.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.

Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
Preferred Experience:
Previous experience teaching secondary mathematics courses at the high school level.

Familiarity with instructional technology and digital learning platforms used in mathematics instruction.

Experience supporting students in heterogeneous classrooms with varied academic needs.

Understanding of culturally responsive and student-centered instructional practices.

Ability to contribute positively to a collaborative department culture.
