Immediately Job Description Special Educator The Stern Center for Language and Learning is a nonprofit organization dedicated to learning for all, recognizing that all great minds don't think alike. Each year, we provide customized instruction and psychoeducational evaluations for more than 700 children and adults, including individuals with learning differences, learning disabilities, and gifted learners. We also design and deliver professional learning opportunities for more than 1,500 educators annually. At the Stern Center, we are committed to helping individuals identify their strengths and develop strategies that allow them to thrive as learners. We are seeking a full-time Special Educator / Academic Instructor to join our highly experienced, collaborative, and student-centered instructional team. Qualified candidates will demonstrate explicit teaching skills in reading, writing, and mathematics, along with experience providing individualized (1:1) instruction to students. Vermont Special Education licensure or eligibility is strongly preferred. This position is ideal for educators who value collaboration, evidence-based instruction, and meaningful relationships with students, families, and school partners. Responsibilities Include:
  • Administering and interpreting pre- and post-instructional assessments
  • Developing individualized academic goals and instructional plans
  • Providing evidence-based, one-to-one instruction in literacy and/or mathematics
  • Monitoring student progress and maintaining clear instructional documentation
  • Communicating collaboratively with families, schools, teachers, and special educators
  • Reporting directly to the Director of Instruction Strong candidates will demonstrate excellent communication skills, strong progress monitoring practices, and a commitment to individualized, student-centered instruction.
