Qualifications:
Valid Washington State teaching certificate appropriate for the assignment Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning; Master's degree preferred Advanced level proficiency in ACTFL written and oral assessments Ability to collaborate in the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of a K-12 Dual language learning program Ability to differentiate learning experiences for students at varying language proficiency levels Like native speaking and listening fluency and reading and writing literacy in Spanish Familiarity or willingness to acquire knowledge of language learning models and curriculum Comfortable working in a collaborative environment in a program focused on improving student learning Experienced or at ease in taking leadership to advocate for students in program viability and fidelity Represents the best interests of the school Cooperates as a professional team member and accepts faculty responsibilities Continued professional improvement Sets an example for students in emotional stability, self-control, courtesy, and appearance Ability to work in a semi-open or self-contained classroom Knowledge of, or experience with, multicultural education Knowledge of, or experience with, a variety of teaching strategies, i.e. cooperative learning, integrated curriculum, whole language, etc Program commitment for continuity and improvement Ability to work cooperatively with students and their parents who are culturally, racially, and linguistically diverse Advanced ability to use technology as an effective communication, planning, and instructional tool Willingness to participate in professional development courses aligned with the school and district initiatives Willingness to offer extra-curricular activities that provide extended learning experiences and offer needed support
Essential Functions:
Teaches middle school content in Spanish, integrates the teaching of Science content area vocabulary, and teaches students to use the language correctly through the content Modifies curriculum and materials designed for use in other contexts Handles discipline in a positive manner Works and plans cooperatively and collaboratively Moves comfortably in a diverse community and with cultural competency Teaches middle school subject s with a high degree of skill Evaluates a variety of curricular resources and make recommendations for adoption Actively engage students in using technology in individual and collaborative learning activities Works in a flexible and cooperative manner Treats co-workers, supervisors, students, parents and others with dignity and respect at all times Serves as a positive role model for students, and practices the behaviors that are expected of our students Maintains regular and punctual attendance and hours of operation as set by the assigned building/location and the Comprehensive Professional Agreement to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position to achieve program requirements Supervision of students Other duties as assigned Such alternatives to the above requirements and desirable qualifications may be made as the district finds appropriate and acceptable.
Benefits/Compensation:
Salary range: $64,498 - $121,573 (includes Base & TRI enrichment; commensurate upon FTE, degree, credits and experience).
Additional Compensation:
Certificated positions may have additional pay provisions above what is represented on the salary range such as, but not limited to TRI professional learning, extended year days, extra appendix E supplemental days and professional development reimbursement. Detailed information, including eligibility criteria, can be found in the VEA CBA .
Benefits:
Employees who are anticipated to work at least 630 hours may be eligible for health, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, life, and disability insurance benefits. .
Retirement:
Employees may be eligible for retirement benefits through the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS). Eligibility is based on FTE. .
Time Off:
Includes paid time off, sick, personal, religious, military and bereavement leave.
Sick Leave:
8 hours per month (part-time employee accrual will be proportionate to their FTE).
Personal Leave:
3 days per school year Detailed information, including accrual criteria can be found in the VEA CBA .
