The Department of Mathematics at Auburn University at Montgomery invites applications for a non-tenure track, full-time lecturer position, to begin August 2026. This is a one-year (nine-month), renewable appointment. Responsibilities will include teaching courses appropriate to the needs of the department and maintaining office hours. The teaching load is 8 courses (24 hrs) per academic year (Fall and Spring). Summer teaching is possible. Responsibility includes day, evening, and/or off-campus/online teaching. In addition, you may have other duties as designated by the department chair. Successful candidates must have earned at least a master's degree in mathematics, statistics, or a related field with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in mathematics and statistics completed before the employment start date. Evidence of excellence in teaching and interpersonal communication skills is also required. Teaching core mathematics and statistics courses, and possibly co-requisite courses, is expected. Successful candidates will have a strong record of excellence in teaching, a commitment to service at both the departmental and university levels, and will possess effective oral and written communication skills. Teaching experience is required and candidates who employ innovative, evidence-based teaching practices are preferred. Student mentoring, as well as a commitment to university, community, and professional service, is also expected. About the University/College Auburn University at Montgomery is a comprehensive, public institution located in Alabama's capital city. The Montgomery metropolitan area is home to nearly 400,000 people and a hub for technology-intensive entities such as Maxwell AFB and Hyundai Motor Manufacturing. AUM enrolls approximately 4-5,000 students, and the University is investing heavily in STEM education, including the completion of a new Science building. The Department of Mathematics currently includes nine tenure-track faculty and five lecturers and offers an undergraduate degree in Mathematics. The department also offers two minors in Data Science and Statistics. In addition, the department coordinates a two-year pre-engineering program that prepares students to transfer to an engineering school (usually the main campus of Auburn University). Candidates must meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time of appointment.
