This position begins August 1, 2026 Job Description We are seeking a passionate and dedicated 5th/6th Grade Math Teacher to join our team of educators. The 5th/6th Grade Math Teacher will be responsible for inspiring students to develop strong mathematical thinking skills, build confidence in problem-solving, and cultivate a deep understanding of foundational math concepts and principles. This position offers an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to foster curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of mathematics in middle school students. Responsibilities Develop and implement a comprehensive and engaging math curriculum for 5th and 6th grade students, covering topics such as number sense, operations, fractions, decimals, ratios, geometry, algebraic thinking, and data analysis. Plan and deliver hands-on, student-centered lessons that encourage students to explore mathematical concepts, apply problem-solving strategies, and make connections between mathematics and real-world situations. Integrate technology, manipulatives, and interactive learning resources to enhance instruction and provide students with meaningful opportunities to engage with mathematical concepts. Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel encouraged to ask questions, think critically, collaborate with peers, and actively participate in mathematical discussions. Guide students in developing mathematical reasoning and process skills, including computation, problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, and analytical reasoning. Incorporate interdisciplinary connections and cross-curricular activities to promote a holistic understanding of mathematics and its applications in everyday life. Assess student learning through a variety of formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback to support student growth and development. Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum, share best practices, and promote interdisciplinary connections within the school community. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, upcoming projects, and opportunities for involvement in their child's math education. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or related field (Required). Teaching certification/license in Elementary Education or Mathematics (Preferred). Prior experience teaching math at the upper elementary or middle school level preferred. Strong knowledge of mathematics concepts, instructional strategies, and age-appropriate learning practices. Enthusiasm for mathematics education and a genuine passion for inspiring students' confidence and interest in math. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students in mathematical learning. Creativity and innovation in lesson planning and instructional delivery. Ability to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages inquiry, collaboration, and problem-solving.
