Job Description:
The Education Department at Siena seeks a part-time Mathematics Student Teacher Supervisor to support student teachers currently enrolled in various teacher preparation programs through observation, coaching, and assessment. Siena offers both undergraduate and graduate teacher preparation programs that place student teachers in elementary and secondary settings. Supervisors serve as resources for student teachers and act as liaisons between the University and the field. They offer experienced and objective perspectives on overall classroom effectiveness. This position offers flexibility in scheduling. Please note this position requires Student Teacher Supervisors to be available to conduct in-person observations during the K-12 school day as well as virtually. It is anticipated that the student will be located on the eastern side of Long Island.
Responsibilities include:
Observe and gather assessment data on lessons conducted by student teachers in various content areas and school sites. Provide oral and written descriptive feedback on a student teacher's execution of professional responsibilities (e.g., lesson planning, lesson implementation, instructional and assessment practices, classroom interactions, maintenance of records). Help the student teacher relate teaching theory to classroom practice (e.g., discuss reasons for selecting materials and methods). Coach student teachers in developing classroom management practices that are consistent,conducive to learning, culturally and linguistically responsive/sustaining, and respectful. Participate in supervisory team meetings to align expectations and practices. (Zoom option provided for supervisors at a distance.) Communicate with the Director of Field Experiences and the Director of the Teacher Preparation Program about student progress across the semester.
Job Requirements:
A minimum of a Master's Degree in Education or related field Demonstrated knowledge of New York State and national math teaching standards required A background screening will be required.
Preferred Requirements:
Prior college-level teaching experience

$1333.34 per contact hour The hiring pay rate above represents the University's good faith estimate at the time of posting in compliance with the Albany County Salary Transparency Law.
