Job Description

ACU is affiliated with the fellowship of the Church of Christ. This position requires the employee to be a professing Christian and to be willing to support the Christian mission of ACU. ‌ The Math Adjunct Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction for approximately 6 credit hours per semester. The instructor will prepare and teach assigned courses, which may include Quantitative Reasoning, Finite Mathematics, Pre-Calculus, Statistics, or Calculus, depending on departmental needs and the candidate's expertise. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated ability to communicate complex mathematical concepts clearly to students from diverse academic backgrounds. Qualifications A master's degree in mathematics or a related field (such as Physics, Engineering, or Statistics). At least 18 graduate hours in mathematics or statistics specifically. Job Summary Lead two sections of 100-level courses per semester, ensuring classes meet for the full allotted time and cover all required course objectives. Develop a comprehensive course syllabus for each section that aligns with departmental standards and institutional policies. Provide academic guidance through scheduled office hours and respond to student inquiries via email in a timely manner. Design and administer exams, quizzes, and other assessments in coordination with department faculty. Maintain accurate records and submit final grades by established deadlines. Adjuncts are paid per course according to the college's part time faculty-salary schedule. Information about the department and programs is available at www.acu.edu/math.
