Associate Professor of Mathematics

Apply Apply Description Position Overview Wiley University invites applications for a full-time faculty position supporting our undergraduate mathematics programs. We seek a dedicated scholar-educator passionate about delivering high-quality instruction in mathematics and helping students develop strong quantitative reasoning skills. Candidates with expertise in various areas of mathematics are encouraged to apply. Primary Responsibilities The successful candidate will: Teach undergraduate courses in mathematics, which may include College Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus I-III, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Statistics, Discrete Mathematics, and/or Mathematics for Elementary Teachers Utilize effective pedagogical strategies to engage diverse learners and promote conceptual understanding alongside computational proficiency Provide academic mentoring and professional guidance to support student development and mathematical confidence Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, assessment practices, and continuous program improvement Actively participate in departmental, college, and university service activities Engage in ongoing scholarship and professional development to maintain disciplinary currency and pedagogical effectiveness Report to the Department Chair or designated administrator and contribute to departmental goals Qualifications Required Qualifications Master's degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution Demonstrated ability or strong potential to deliver effective, student-centered instruction across various levels of mathematics Excellent communication skills and commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive learning environment Ability to explain complex mathematical concepts clearly and accessibly to students with varying levels of preparation Willingness to engage collaboratively in curriculum review and departmental initiatives Preferred Qualifications Terminal degree (Ph.D.) in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or related discipline Previous college or university teaching experience, particularly at the undergraduate level Experience with active learning strategies, technology-enhanced instruction, and innovative pedagogical approaches in mathematics Record of scholarly activity, research engagement, or relevant professional experience Ability to teach across multiple subdisciplines within mathematics and support interdisciplinary programs Application Requirements Complete applications must include: Cover letter addressing qualifications, teaching philosophy, and scholarly agenda Current curriculum vitae Unofficial transcript(s) for all graduate degrees (official transcripts required upon hire) Contact information for three professional references Wiley University, a historically Black university (HBCU) located in Marshall, Texas, is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
