Job Description

Position Summary The Middle School Teacher is responsible for delivering rigorous, standards-aligned instruction in Science to students in grades 6-8. This teacher builds strong classroom culture, delivers engaging lessons, uses data to drive instruction, and ensures students master essential standards. At Exalt Academy, middle school teachers are expected to combine strong content instruction with clear systems, high expectations, and meaningful student relationships. Teachers work collaboratively in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and implement Explicit Instruction to ensure all students can succeed. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver high-quality, standards-aligned instruction in Science for middle school students. Use district-adopted curriculum and instructional resources effectively. Implement Explicit Instruction practices, including clear learning objectives, modeling, guided practice, and independent practice. Use formative and summative assessment data to adjust instruction and provide targeted support. Build a structured, positive classroom culture grounded in clear expectations and strong relationships. Participate actively in PLCs focused on essential standards, lesson planning, student work analysis, and intervention planning. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including English learners and students receiving interventions. Communicate regularly with students, families, and colleagues regarding student progress and needs. Fulfill professional responsibilities, including lesson planning, grading, supervision, meetings, and professional development. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education, Science, or a related field (required) Valid Arkansas teaching license or eligibility for licensure in the appropriate middle school content area (required) Experience teaching middle school students preferred Strong content knowledge in Science, preferred Commitment to collaboration, continuous improvement, and student-centered instruction Work Schedule Full-time, following the Exalt Academy academic calendar Why Exalt Academy of Southwest Little Rock?
