You must have a valid Arizona Driver's License and must be able to transport our School Age Students to and from school. You will support children with homework, enrichment activities, social-emotional development, and a structured routine that complements the school day. A School Age Teacher must have a great love, patience, and kindness toward children. You must be consistently kind, respectful, and nurturing with every child at all times. Our educators are expected to model empathy, positive guidance, and professionalism in alignment with NAEYC Standards , AZCASE Standards , the CLASS Framework , and Quality First Standards . Qualifications needed to teach effectively include knowledge of best practices in child development and school-age educational methods, as well as the ability to engage children, earn their trust, and maintain a classroom culture grounded in emotional support, classroom organization, and instructional support. The objective is to provide a safe, engaging, and supportive environment that promotes academic support (homework help), healthy peer relationships, confidence, and continued growth—before school, after school, and throughout summer programming. Responsibilities Develop a careful, creative, and developmentally appropriate program suitable for School Age children Implement program practices aligned with NAEYC, AZCASE, CLASS, and Quality First Standards Maintain warm, responsive teacher-child interactions consistent with CLASS domains (Emotional Support, Classroom Organization, Instructional Support) Provide daily homework support including planning, organization, and follow-through (as appropriate by age/grade) Create and implement weekly lesson plans/curriculum for before/after school enrichment and summer programming (STEM, literacy, art, movement, life skills, projects, clubs) Use a variety of learning strategies (hands-on learning, educational games, small groups, projects, read-alouds, team challenges) Transport children to and from school (7:00 AM drop-off & 3:00 PM pick-up, including early release schedules) Observe each child to help improve social competencies and build self-esteem Encourage children to interact respectfully and guide them in resolving conflicts using positive guidance techniques Foster inclusion, belonging, and cultural responsiveness in alignment with NAEYC and AZCASE best practices Organize activities and snack times and supervise children to ensure safety at all times Maintain active supervision in accordance with Arizona Department of Health Services licensing regulations Track children's progress and communicate with families using the Bright Beginnings "Rule of Three" communication model (positive

  • positive close) Communicate with parents regularly to support consistency between home, school, and program expectations Collaborate with fellow educators to ensure program quality and compliance Maintain a clean, organized classroom consistent with health, sanitation, and safety standards Assist in virtual and in-person learning support as needed (School Age) Maintain ratios and ensure the health and safety of children in your classroom at all times Utilize KidKare and Brightwheel daily for attendance, documentation, and parent communication Requirements Minimum of 1 year experience as a School Age Teacher Demonstrated ability to be nurturing, patient, and consistently kind to children Excellent understanding of child development principles and school-age educational practices Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms Strong understanding of positive behavior guidance and conflict resolution Excellent communication and instructional skills Ability to serve as a calm and respectful mediator between children Cool-tempered, friendly, professional, and reliable Working knowledge of Arizona Department of Health Services licensing regulations pertaining to childcare Commitment to upholding NAEYC, AZCASE, CLASS, and Quality First Standards Mandatory Credentials Current Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card Current Maricopa County Food Handler's Card Valid Arizona Driver's License Current CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification High School Diploma Associates, CDA Certification (Preferred) Arizona Early Childhood Workforce Registry Member Other Qualifications One or more years of experience working as a lead or assistant teacher in a childcare setting Experience serving a multicultural, socially diverse population preferred Ability to demonstrate culturally responsive practices Meet annual professional development requirements per state regulations and Quality First expectations Proficient in using Windows and Apple-based computers and tablets Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and classroom quality Schedule Monday-Friday (Some Saturdays may be required) At Bright Beginnings, we believe that kindness is not optional—it is foundational.
