We are hiring a Part-Time STEAM Teacher for Circuit Builders, our screen-free hardware engineering class for grades 1 to 6, at campuses in Mountain View and Palo Alto.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday afternoons, after 2:00 PM. Same day and time every week.
Hours:
1 to 10 per week.
Pay:
$40 to $60 per hour.
Start date:
Mid-September 2026.
Duration:
One term minimum, roughly September through December.
THE CLASS YOU WOULD TEACH
Circuit Builders is our screen-free hardware engineering program. Across 8 to 12 weekly one-hour sessions, students in grades 1 to 6 learn the fundamentals of circuits: lights, motors, and sensors. Each student picks a project to build, usually a robot, a car, or a lighthouse. On the last day, every student walks out carrying something they made and can explain. Cohorts are capped at 12 students. We provide all materials and the full curriculum. There is no screen time in this class at all.
WHAT YOU WOULD DO
Lead one hour-long Circuit Builders class per week, on site, with the same group of students all term Teach circuits and troubleshooting from our written curriculum, so you are not writing lesson plans on Sunday night Get every student to a finished, working project by the end of the cohort Arrive early, set up, and run a calm room for 12 kids with electronics in their hands
WHAT WE REQUIRE
Prior experience teaching or instructing children in grades 1 through 6. Classroom, camp, tutoring center, coaching, and enrichment all count. This one is not flexible. We do not train people on how to teach. You like working with elementary-age kids. Our best instructors light up around 9-year-olds, not only around electronics. Comfort with hands-on hardware such as breadboards, batteries, LEDs, and small motors. You do not need an EE degree, but you should stay relaxed when a circuit does not work. Consistent weekday afternoon availability after 2:00 PM Reliable transportation to Mountain View and Palo Alto campuses Age 20 or older, able to clear a Live Scan background check and TB clearance A teaching credential is welcome but not required.
ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY
Please read this section before you apply. A school gives us a room and a time slot, and families rearrange their week around it. When an instructor is late, the class starts late in front of a principal. When an instructor cancels, we are calling twelve families that same afternoon, and that is how school partnerships end.
The standard is simple:
You are on site 15 minutes before class starts, every week. You do not cancel. If a true emergency comes up, tell us right away and we will cover it. But this should happen once, ever, not once a term. One full term minimum, same day and time throughout. We would rather hire someone with four years of tutoring and perfect attendance than someone with a stronger resume who might miss two Thursdays.
