Job Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION SCUSD
Extended Learning is seeking passionate Teachers/Youth Program Leaders interested in making a difference in the lives of young children ages 4-12 years old. As one of our dynamic and experienced after-school program Teachers, you will ensure our program provides hands-on, developmentally appropriate educational activities, enriched and inviting indoor and outdoor classroom environments, and lead your team of child development professionals to create a positive after-school learning experience for children and their families.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • AA or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Youth/Adolescent Development or a related field. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience working with children ages 4-12 years old in an after-school enrichment program (grades TK
  • 6th)
  • CPR and First Aid Certified
  • Working knowledge or the ability to learn District adopted software: Google suite software, Google Classroom, Google Meet and/or Zoom, etc.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
  • Must be in good health, able to lift 30 lbs. chest high, and pass a physical exam
  • Must be able to walk, squat, bend and stand; ability to move freely to supervise and engage in indoor and outdoor activities with children.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum directly connected to the needs and interests of the children.
  • Ability to write and support Associate Teachers and Teacher Aides in curriculum development using project-based learning, STEAM/STEM education and related developmentally appropriate curriculum models.
  • Ability to lead and mentor Associate Teachers and Teacher Aides in the development of classroom plans and goals.
  • Keep children safe and healthy through proper supervision, authentic interaction and practicing good health habits.
  • Create exciting and enriched environments connected to curriculum and quality learning experiences.
  • Communicate regularly with parents to support, guide, and share in their child's development.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff by practicing workplace values, flexibility, and being a team player.
  • Provide excellent customer service for families, school, community and each other. Responsible for general supervision, development and education of children. Supervises the staff and assumes all duties of the Associate Teachers and Aides. Comments and Other Information
  • Length of Work Year:
    5.5 hours per day, 5 days per week, 10 months, hours 12:30 to 6:00 pm
  • Hours, schedules, and locations are subject to change when school is not in session, based on the needs of the program.
