Middle School Spanish Teacher Saint Paul VI Parish Corporation Hamden, CT Job Details 1 day ago Qualifications Parent-teacher conferences (communication methods) Full Job Description Middle School Spanish Teacher The Middle School Spanish Teacher is responsible for creating a supportive, faith-filled, and academically rigorous classroom environment. The ideal candidate will foster a love for the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures while integrating Catholic values and teachings into daily instruction. This position involves teaching Spanish to students in grades 6 through 8, preparing them for high school-level language study, and actively participating in the school's spiritual and community life.
Faith Formation & Community Model Catholic Values:
Maintain a classroom atmosphere rooted in the Gospel message that promotes mutual respect, kindness, and charity.
Spiritual Leadership:
Lead students in daily prayer, participate in school liturgies, and support the campus ministry and service-learning initiatives.
Cultural Integration:
Highlight the rich Catholic heritage, traditions, and history within the global Spanish-speaking world.
Instructional Design & Classroom Management Curriculum Development:
Design and implement engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with diocesan standards
Language Acquisition:
Focus on the four core components of language learning: speaking, listening, reading, and writing, utilizing communicative and immersion-based techniques.
Differentiated Instruction:
Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse learning needs, styles, and accommodation plans of middle school students.
Classroom Culture:
Establish clear expectations, routines, and positive reinforcement strategies to maintain a structured, safe, and productive learning environment.
Assessment & Communication Student Evaluation:
Utilize both formative and summative assessments to measure student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback.
Parent Engagement:
Maintain regular, professional communication with parents and guardians regarding student academic progress and behavioral growth via the school portal, email, and conferences.
Collaboration:
Work closely with middle school team members, professional learning communities (PLCs), and administration to support student success and school-wide initiatives.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Spanish, Secondary Education, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Certification:
Valid State Teaching Certification in World Languages (Spanish) or eligibility for diocesan certification preferred.
Experience:
Previous experience teaching middle school or adolescent learners is highly desirable.
Faith Alignment :
A practicing Catholic in good standing is preferred, with a deep commitment to the mission of Catholic education.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to assist students, navigate classroom and campus environments, and lift or move instructional materials up to 20 pounds as needed.
