Job Description

Middle School ELA & Science Teacher Position Summary The Middle School ELA & Science teacher is responsible for the care and education of middle school students in Grades 6, 7 & 8. The ELA & Science teacher will plan and implement ELA and science lessons, evaluate and supervise a safe, creative and developmentally appropriate classroom. The ELA & Science teacher performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision and values of All Saints Catholic Academy and the Archdiocese of Hartford.
Supervisor :
Principal Primary Responsibilities, including but not limited to: Plan, implement, evaluate and supervise a developmentally appropriate curriculum for sixth, seventh and eighth grade students. Maintain a safe environment. Plan classroom program activities in accordance with the philosophies and policies of according to the mission of All Saints Catholic Academy and the Archdiocese of Hartford. Plan for and implement instructional methods which motivate and enable each middle school student to meet with success and achieve learning objectives. Maintain weekly lesson plans. Be diligent about documenting all incidents and noteworthy behaviors. Actively participate in all meetings and in-service trainings. Complete and maintain all other required documentation and records. Complete and respond to request made by the principal within 48 hours of a written request. Prepare for and conduct parent conferences. Must abide by all the All Saints Catholic Academy's policies and procedures. Personal Qualities and Special Characteristics Have a warm, supportive, attitude towards children. Be reliable. Be respectful and professional when dealing with colleagues and families. Be flexible in receiving assignments or adapting to changes in the program. Arrive to be in the classroom ready to work at the beginning of the day and remain until your shift is complete.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
Meet the requirements of a bachelor's degree with a concentration in English and Science. CT Teaching Certification (in English, Science and/or Secondary Education). Evaluate students' performance to ensure their success in the learning content. Remain in constant communication with parents and update them on the progress of their children/have excellent communication skills. Have a positive attitude. Work cooperatively with all other teachers on the middle school team. Be able to participate in all staff training, monthly staff meetings and recommended educational training. Be a team player and enjoy collaboration. Be willing to take direction, instruction and be flexible in receiving assignments or adapting to changes in the program. Be willing to perform other duties as required by the principal, social worker and Archdiocese of Hartford. Patience, flexibility and love for children. Strong time management skills. Be a practicing Catholic in good standing.
