Temporary Anticipated Schedule (Subject to Change): Wednesday, June 24 - 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Thursday, June 25 - 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Weekdays (Monday-Friday), June 29-July 31, - 7:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

$25/hour Reporting to: Program Manager, Kindergarten Readiness Program Summary Summer Start is a five-week half-day program for four- and five-year-old children who have not had the benefit of a formal preschool experience. Engaging classroom activities are combined with theme-based, hands-on projects and fun field trips to build math and literacy skills (aligned with Connecticut Core State Standards). Summer Start gives preschoolers an opportunity to learn classroom routines while interacting socially with fellow rising kindergarten students. The Summer Start experience can help lessen the anxiety and stress some children feel when starting kindergarten. Studies show that preschool instruction sets a strong foundation for future academic and social success. Position Summary The Summer Start School Support Staff member is responsible for assisting the Program Manager with the operations of the summer program. This role includes providing essential assistance across a range of school functions, including administrative duties, student supervision, classroom support, and maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment. Responsibilities & Duties Perform support duties as assigned by the Program Manager as needed Support with maintaining school records and data entry using school systems Assist in organizing school events, trips, and activities Support teachers with classroom activities, resources preparation, and behavior management Maintain high level of ethical behavior and sensitivity of information about students Assist in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning school environment Help with the arrival and dismissal routine Assist staff and program participants with language support, such as translation and/or interpretation Perform other related duties, as assigned Qualifications & Skills Hold an Associate Degree, or have completed at least 60 hours at an accredited college and/or university Experience with early childhood education preferred (e.g. pre-school/Kindergarten) Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, or sitting on the floor with students may be required. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
