Lead After-School Teacher The LY Studio + The Little Yogis Enrichment Program Roswell, Georgia | Monday-Friday | 12:30 PM-6:30 PM Job Overview This is not a position for someone who simply likes children. Children are charming little mirrors with snacks. They require patience, structure, humor, emotional intelligence, stamina, and the ability to remain calm when twelve people need something at the exact same time. The Little Yogis is seeking a confident, warm, highly organized Lead After-School Teacher to help guide our students through afternoons filled with movement, creativity, academic support, social development, and meaningful play. Our program is rooted in yoga, mindfulness, self-awareness, personal responsibility, and the belief that children deserve to be understood without being permitted to run the building like tiny, underqualified executives. The Lead Teacher serves as the primary classroom leader during the after-school program. You will supervise students, direct the daily schedule, support transportation and student transitions, lead activities, maintain safety standards, communicate with families, and help create an environment where children feel both cared for and appropriately challenged. You must be able to lead with warmth without becoming passive, maintain authority without becoming harsh, and understand that structure is not the enemy of creativity—it is usually what keeps creativity from setting the room on fire. What You Will Be Responsible For Student Leadership and Supervision

• Lead and supervise groups of elementary-aged children throughout the after-school day
• Maintain active awareness of student locations, needs, behaviors, and emotional states
• Ensure children are properly checked in, accounted for, and released only to authorized adults
• Support school pickups, transportation transitions, arrival procedures, and dismissal
• Maintain appropriate staff-to-student supervision at all times
• Create a classroom culture that feels safe, respectful, energetic, and intentional Daily Program Execution
• Follow and help execute the daily program schedule, including snack, homework support, yoga, movement, creative projects, outdoor play, workshops, and group reflection
• Prepare activity materials before students arrive
• Lead engaging activities that support confidence, focus, cooperation, creativity, communication, and problem-solving
• Adjust activities when students need more movement, more structure, or a complete change of plans because children do not care about your beautiful clipboard
• Assist with special events, theme days, field trips, family gatherings, and studio programming Behavior Guidance
• Use positive, age-appropriate behavior management strategies
• Establish clear expectations and follow through consistently
• Redirect disruptive behavior without humiliating or escalating the child
• Help students identify emotions, communicate needs, repair conflict, and make better decisions
• Document recurring behavioral concerns and communicate them to leadership
• Work collaboratively with parents and staff when a child needs additional support
• Understand the difference between a child having a difficult moment and a child being allowed to derail the entire group Academic and Developmental Support
• Provide homework assistance, tutoring support, reading practice, and academic encouragement
• Help children strengthen independence, organization, responsibility, and follow-through
• Support students with varying learning styles, personalities, and developmental needs
• Encourage curiosity without doing the child's work for them
• Celebrate effort, progress, originality, and thoughtful risk-taking Safety and Emergency Readiness
• Follow all program safety policies, transportation procedures, emergency plans, and supervision requirements
• Conduct regular headcounts and attendance checks
• Respond calmly and appropriately during injuries, behavioral incidents, severe weather, evacuations, or other emergencies
• Maintain current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification, or complete certification within the required timeframe
• Report accidents, injuries, safety concerns, and unusual incidents immediately
• Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and staff matters Classroom and Studio Care
• Keep classrooms, activity areas, bathrooms, snack spaces, and shared materials orderly and sanitary
• Ensure students participate in age-appropriate cleanup and personal responsibility
• Complete opening, transition, and closing checklists
• Restock supplies and alert leadership before materials run out
• Return every space to a clean, organized, ready-to-use condition
• Understand that "someone else will get it" is not an operational system Family and Team Communication
• Greet families warmly and professionally
• Provide brief, accurate updates about a child's day when appropriate
• Communicate concerns through the proper leadership channels
• Collaborate with assistant teachers, drivers, specialty instructors, interns, volunteers, and studio leadership
• Help delegate responsibilities and guide less-experienced team members
• Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and performance reviews
• Receive feedback without collapsing, combusting, or turning it into a personality referendum What We Are Looking For
• Experience working with children in an after-school program, school, camp, childcare center, youth organization, recreation program, or similar setting
• Strong classroom management and group leadership skills
• Genuine enjoyment of children paired with realistic expectations of their behavior
• Knowledge of child development, social-emotional learning, and positive behavior guidance
• Ability to lead both structured activities and active outdoor play
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong judgment, emotional regulation, and problem-solving ability
• Dependability, punctuality, organization, and professional follow-through
• Ability to take initiative without ignoring established systems
• Comfort working with children who have different abilities, communication styles, attention needs, or behavioral challenges
• Willingness to participate in movement, yoga, games, outdoor activities, crafts, performances, and the occasional glorious nonsense of childhood Preferred Qualifications
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in education, child development, psychology, social work, recreation, or a related field
• Previous experience as a lead teacher, camp director, classroom teacher, program coordinator, or youth team leader
• Experience working with children with special needs
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certification
• Yoga, mindfulness, fitness, dance, art, theater, tutoring, or enrichment experience
• Experience supervising staff, interns, or volunteers
• Clean driving record and willingness to assist with student transportation when needed Physical and Scheduling Requirements
• Available Monday through Friday during after-school hours, generally 12:30 PM-6:30 PM
• Able to stand, walk, bend, sit on the floor, lift supplies, and remain active throughout the shift
• Able to supervise children indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Able to lift approximately 30 pounds when necessary
• Able to respond quickly during emergencies or student safety concerns
