2026-2027 Academic Year Project-Based / Innovation-Driven Position Overview This is not a traditional teaching position. We are seeking a STEM educator who is energized by inquiry, real-world application, and student mentorship. You will be responsible for designing and leading dynamic STEM learning experiences for grades 8-12 that focus on critical thinking, innovation, and interdisciplinary problem-solving. This position is full-time and in-person at our Clinton, Iowa campus. About Lighthouse Schools Lighthouse Schools is America's first Islamic boys' boarding school, serving grades 8-12 through a self-paced, project-based, and mentor-driven model. Our mission is to prepare young men to become changemakers, entrepreneurs, and leaders—grounded in both academic excellence and faith-based values. We emphasize real-world learning, hands-on problem-solving, and character development through rigorous academics and personal coaching. Primary Responsibilities
  • Curriculum & Workshop Design Design and lead STEM workshops that help students apply math and science to real-world challenges such as building structures, coding programs, analyzing environmental data, or designing energy systems Develop assessments that measure communication, reasoning, and applied understanding rather than memorization Integrate cutting-edge STEM topics into instruction, including AI, sustainability, data science, robotics, and space exploration We have recieved multiple State of Iowa STEM grants: one for biological cell research and the other for robotics interest.
  • Student Mentorship & Coaching Provide 1:1 and small group coaching to support students in problem-solving, experimentation, and modeling Guide students through self-paced science and math goals, research-based projects, and technical skill development Create an environment where students feel empowered to hypothesize, test, revise, and present their ideas
  • Collaboration & School Culture Collaborate with fellow educators, industry partners, and guest speakers to bring relevance and depth to student learning Design interdisciplinary projects that connect STEM to business, entrepreneurship, ethics, and global challenges Build strong relationships with students and families to support academic growth and personal development What We're Looking For Experience designing real-world, hands-on STEM learning for middle or high school students Strong coaching, mentoring, or project leadership experience in science, math, or technology STEM lab experience to manage the state of Iowa
