Aug 10, 2026 Job Description Position Overview The Residential Construction/Cabinetry Teacher will provide classroom instruction and hands-on training in residential construction, cabinetry, woodworking, and related trades. Students gain experience in safety practices, blueprint reading, framing, finish carpentry, cabinet construction, project planning, and the use of industry-standard tools and equipment. This position includes a 10-day extended contract to serve as the advisor for our SkillsUSA Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO). The advisor will mentor students in leadership development, career readiness, and regional, state, and national SkillsUSA competitions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Instruction & Student Learning
  • Teach industry-aligned residential construction, carpentry, cabinetry, and woodworking skills in both classroom and laboratory settings.
  • Develop and implement an engaging curriculum aligned with Idaho CTE standards and industry expectations.
  • Provide hands-on learning opportunities that prepare students for postsecondary education, apprenticeships, and employment.
  • Assess student performance and maintain accurate records of progress and achievement. Safety & Shop Management
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and OSHA-compliant learning environment.
  • Instruct students in proper safety procedures, tool operation, and workplace practices.
  • Monitor and maintain tools, equipment, and facilities to ensure safe operation. SkillsUSA Leadership
  • Serve as the SkillsUSA chapter advisor.
  • Coordinate chapter meetings, leadership activities, community service projects, and fundraising efforts.
  • Prepare and mentor students for regional, state, and national SkillsUSA competitions.
  • Attend required SkillsUSA conferences, competitions, and advisor training events. Industry & Community Engagement
  • Build partnerships with local contractors, builders, trade organizations, and postsecondary institutions.
  • Facilitate work-based learning opportunities, internships, job shadows, and industry guest speakers.
  • Collaborate with the program's Technical Advisory Committee to ensure the curriculum remains relevant to industry needs. Program Operations
  • Manage inventory, materials, and equipment purchases within program budgets.
  • Maintain required program documentation and reports.
  • Support recruitment efforts and promote the construction pathway within the district and community.
