POSITION OVERVIEW
Morehouse Parish School District is seeking a highly dedicated and student-centered School Away From School (SAFS) Teacher to support students in an alternative education setting. This position provides individualized academic instruction, behavioral supports, and social-emotional development to students requiring a structured environment. The successful candidate will implement standards-aligned instruction, utilize trauma-informed practices, and promote student success through skill-building in self-regulation, behavior management, and academic recovery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver standards-aligned instruction across core content areas Provide individualized and small-group academic support Implement PBIS, FBA, and BIP strategies to support behavior growth Support development of self-regulation, executive functioning, and SEL skills Utilize trauma-informed and restorative practices Monitor student progress through data collection and analysis Collaborate with schools, families, and support teams Maintain a structured and supportive classroom environment Participate in IEP and intervention meetings Ensure compliance with FERPA, IDEA, and Section 504 Communicate regularly with parents/guardians Participate in PLCs and professional development
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate or eligibility through an LDOE-approved pathway Knowledge of Louisiana Student Standards Experience with behavior management and alternative education settings Understanding of PBIS, trauma-informed practices, and SEL Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and IEP compliance Ability to support self-regulation and positive behavior strategies Strong communication and organizational skills Commitment to equity and student success
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in education or related field Experience in alternative education or intervention programs Experience implementing BIP, FBA, and SEL strategies Strong de-escalation and restorative practices skills Experience with
MTSS/RTI
frameworks Experience working with multidisciplinary teams
