Position Overview We are hiring for both Youth Program Leaders (Group Leaders) and Assistant Leaders (Assistant Group Leaders). These roles work collaboratively to plan, implement, and support daily after-school programming while upholding strong standards in safety, compliance, and community engagement. Group Leaders take a primary role in program planning, leadership, and overall site operations Assistant Leaders support program delivery, participant engagement, and daily operations while growing their leadership skills Together, these roles ensure a high-quality, inclusive, and enriching program experience.
Key Responsibilities Program Planning & Implementation Group Leaders:
Lead planning and execution of engaging, age-appropriate programming aligned with organizational goalsAssistant Leaders:
Assist in planning and implementing daily activities and curriculum Ensure compliance with EEC regulations, QRIS standards, and program policies Promote healthy practices through HEPA standards and CACFP guidelines Provide inclusive programming and reasonable accommodations for children of all abilities Youth Engagement & Supervision Provide active supervision and create a safe, respectful environment Build meaningful relationships with children to support social, emotional, and developmental growthGroup Leaders:
Take the lead in behavior guidance and group managementAssistant Leaders:
Support supervision and model positive engagement strategies Family & Community Engagement Build strong, supportive relationships with families Respond to questions and concerns with professionalism and care Support enrollment, outreach, and community-building efforts Participate in events and initiatives that strengthen community connections Staff & Team Collaboration Work collaboratively with program staff, coordinators, and volunteersGroup Leaders:
Help guide volunteers and support team coordinationAssistant Leaders:
Communicate observations and support team needs Maintain clear communication regarding EEC, QRIS, and program requirements Youth Development Competencies Understanding child growth and development Effective guidance and interaction strategies Family and community partnership Health, safety, and nutrition awareness Curriculum implementation and learning environments Observation, assessment, and documentation Program planning and leadership Professionalism Benefits & Perks Paid sick time Free YMCA membership Discounts on YMCA programs and services Opportunities for professional development and training A fun, active, and supportive workplace culture The chance to build lasting relationships within your community Qualifications - Group Leader Must meet EEC Out-of-School Time requirements: 9 months experience (no high school diploma) 6 months experience (with high school diploma) 3 months experience (with Bachelor's degree) Minimum age: 18 Experience working with school-age children required Knowledge of EEC regulations preferred Qualifications - Assistant Leader Experience working with school-age children preferred Familiarity with EEC regulations is a plus Strong interest in youth development and learning environments Required for Both Roles Ability to build positive, effective relationships with children, families, staff, and community partners Commitment to inclusion, diversity, and professionalism CPR, First Aid, and required trainings (provided upon hire) Maintain EEC professional development requirements and PQ Registry Ability to passEEC CORI/SORI
