- Part-time, Contract Job Summary Join our team as a PULSE Pro — Afterschool Educator (K-5) , where you'll play a vital role in inspiring and nurturing young learners in a vibrant afterschool environment.
This paid position is an exciting opportunity to engage children in enriching activities that promote academic success, creativity, and social-emotional growth. As a PULSE Pro, you'll help create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating space where students can explore their interests, build new skills, and grow in confidence.
PULSE OST
utilizes an engaging curriculum with daily lessons across literacy, math, social-emotional learning, and STEAAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Agriculture, Math), along with all the books and materials. You bring the energy, warmth, and creativity that make it come alive. You'll work in pairs with a fellow PULSE Pro in every classroom, with paid training and on-site support every step of the way. Your enthusiasm and dedication will help foster a love of learning while supporting students' overall well-being. Pay & Schedule $22
- 28 per hour , commensurate with experience, paid bi-weekly — for all program, training, and professional development hours Monday-Thursday afternoons , ~10 hours per week. Paid arrival at 2:45 PM; program runs 3:15-5:15 PM Program dates: September 14, 2026

calendar — no program/no pay on closures) Paid pre-program training: 20-25 hours, virtual on Zoom in August 2026, plus 1 hour of paid professional development every two weeks What You'll Do Lead engaging, age-appropriate activities that support academic success, social skills, and personal growth for students in kindergarten through fifth grade Bring PULSE's provided lesson plans to life across literacy, math, SEL, and STEAAM blocks — adding your own energy and creativity Use positive behavior-management and classroom-management strategies to maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment where every student can participate Work side by side with a partner PULSE Pro in your classroom, and collaborate with the wider team to deliver a great program day Adapt activities and offer individualized attention to support students who need a little extra help Take attendance and enter daily program data (observations, student notes) in the PULSE app Follow safety protocols, address minor issues promptly, and ensure every student is safely dismissed to their family Build positive, trusting relationships with students, families, and school staff Attend paid bi-weekly virtual PD and contribute to program improvement What We Provide Daily lesson plans for every block — you deliver the curriculum, you don't write it All books, materials, and supplies for every unit Paid training before the program begins, plus paid bi-weekly PD all year An on-site Site Coordinator to support you in real time Accessible leadership (Regional Director and PULSE leadership) for questions and support The

app for attendance, data entry, and team communication What We're Looking For Prior experience working with children — daycare, camp, tutoring, babysitting, afterschool, faith-based, or similar — is highly desirable A genuine understanding of how kids learn and grow, and a knack for creating inclusive, encouraging spaces Strong classroom
- and behavior-management skills Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team Reliability and the ability to commit to the full school year (September 2026-May 2027) and the August training schedule Comfort with technology (Zoom for training, a mobile app for daily attendance and notes) Patience, warmth, and enthusiasm for working with students in grades K-5 Background in sports, theater arts, music, or other enrichment is a plus First Aid/CPR certification is preferred but not required; willingness to obtain it is a plus Experience supporting students who need additional support is advantageous Recommended, not required: high school diploma plus 2 years of college, 48 college credits, or an associate degree Requirements All PULSE Pros must pass fingerprinting and a Charles County Public Schools background check (PULSE coordinates this with CCPS).
Candidates who already hold a current CCPS background clearance receive priority.
