POSITION
MIDDLE
SCHOOL MATH TEACHER EFFECTIVE DATE
: 2026-2027 School Year Professional Development to begin early August 2026
QUALIFICATIONS :
Key Job Responsibilities Build a classroom culture in which students love learning and love coming to school. Positive student/teacher relationships matter most at FCCA. Develop strong relationships with families, welcoming their support and encouraging investment in their child's education. Strong instructional knowledge in the delivery of mathematics to secondary students. Use individual and group student performance information to make instructional adaptations that ensure non-normative gains for each student. A team player that collaborates, communicates, and contributes with colleagues to build an amazing educational experience for all. Characteristics of Successful Candidates Required Be highly qualified and certified to teach in the State of Michigan and possess the necessary educational background and certification for the position as determined by the FCCA. Specific subject area expertise preferred. A valid State of Michigan EX certification with subject area endorsement. Have an outstanding record of academic achievement and extracurricular leadership. Be willing to participate in a variety of extra-curricular and co-curricular activities including staff development and curriculum development. Be a person of demonstrated high character, with a passion for continuous improvement. Have experience demonstrating the ability to work collaboratively with others. Possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Preferred Have teaching experience with a proven record of accelerating student growth. Have experience working with urban youth and youth with disabilities. Have experience in an educational setting that shares a similar philosophy with FCCA, or willingness to embrace a new teaching style. Have experience with the MTSS. Willing to learn the Illustrative Mathematics curriculum and implement with support from the District's Math Coach/Coordinator Demonstrate mental/physical ability and stamina for meeting the requirements of the position.
SALARY :
FCCA offers a competitive salary and fringe benefit package to employees. Current teaching base salary begins at $48,699 and reaches $76,527 depending on experiences, qualifications, and impact on learning. Additional opportunities for extra compensation is available based on interests and Academy needs. FCCA offers a comprehensive health/dental/vision insurance package that currently does not have an employee contribution toward the premium. A cash option is offered for those staff members that qualify for insurance coverage and do not need in the form of a monthly payment.
