TEACHER LEADER
INTERNAL ONLY:
Required:
Appropriate content level endorsement on teaching certificate Each Teacher Leader will be compensated per the contractual Teacher Leader 2 scale 1.
Curriculum leadership:
  • Plan & deliver professional development in consultation with the Instruction Area Specialist and Principals
  • Communicate regularly with the Instruction Area Specialist and Principals regarding curriculum related issues and provide input (e.g. assessment results, school improvement goals and strategies, curriculum stands/expectations, common assessments, etc.)
  • Work with appropriate content area teachers on the writing of curriculum and selection of materials in consultation with the Instruction Area Specialist when needed.
(Curricular work will be done as it is currently-through release days or outside the school day and/or year at summer study rate) 2. Act as a resource to teachers in the subject area new to the profession/grade level/subject 3. Assist in the organizing of district-wide extracurricular content activities, various community partnerships and events, and parent/family events as requested (mutual list TBD and agreed upon in each curricular area by the teacher leader and administrator at the beginning of the school year) 4. Serve on the school Continuous Improvement Team 5. Engage in problem solving to remove system barriers with a focus on student success and equity 6. Serve as a liaison among the content area department, school Continuous Improvement Team, and district team ensuring two-way communication and feedback 7. Attend recurring meetings with Secondary Curriculum Specialist 8. Assist with budget process by providing the curriculum team with accurate information regarding department needs and resources
  • MPS Administration and MCEA Leadership are currently engaged in a collaborative discussion and analysis of the teacher leader job descriptions.
