Job Description

The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area. Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Job Summary Holy Cross Academy is seeking a dedicated, faith-centered Middle School Science Teacher to instruct students in grades 6-8. The ideal candidate will foster a positive classroom environment, promote curiosity and critical thinking, and integrate Catholic values into daily instruction. This educator will guide students in developing scientific knowledge and inquiry skills while encouraging academic excellence and personal growth. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging science lessons aligned with school curriculum and standards (e.g., NGSS or diocesan guidelines). Teach a range of middle school science topics such as life science, physical science, earth and space science, and scientific inquiry. Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs. Incorporate hands-on experiments, labs, and project-based learning. Assess student understanding through tests, quizzes, projects, lab activities, and formative assessments. Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents/guardians. Create a respectful, inclusive, and structured classroom environment. Integrate Catholic teachings and values into lessons and classroom culture. Collaborate with faculty and staff on curriculum development and school initiatives. Participate in school activities, faculty meetings, and professional development. Support students' social, emotional, and spiritual development. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education, Science, or related field (Master's preferred). Current state teaching certification or ability to obtain certification. Experience teaching middle school science preferred. Strong classroom management and instructional skills. Commitment to Catholic education and values. Practicing Catholic preferred (depending on school requirements). Excellent communication and organizational skills.
