Full Job Description Job Purpose:
The Food Service Staff member is responsible for preparing, serving, and maintaining nutritious snacks and meals for students in the before and after school program. This role ensures all food safety, cleanliness, and portion control standards are followed while helping to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere during meal and snack times. The Food Service Staff works closely with the Director and team to support smooth daily operations and ensure children are cared for in a safe and sanitary environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Food Preparation & Service Prepare and serve snacks and light meals according to daily menu and schedule. Follow all portion, safety, and sanitation standards as outlined by licensing and health regulations. Ensure snacks meet nutritional and allergy-safe guidelines provided by the program. Set up and clean up all food service areas daily. 2. Cleanliness & Compliance Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and food preparation area. Wash dishes, utensils, and equipment after each use. Store food properly, ensuring items are labeled, sealed, and dated. Follow all food handling, storage, and disposal procedures in compliance with state guidelines. 3. Inventory & Supplies Monitor inventory of food, paper goods, and cleaning supplies. Notify the Director or Assistant Director when supplies need replenishing. Assist with receiving and organizing food deliveries as needed. 4. Team Support & Collaboration Communicate with staff regarding snack times, student allergies, and portion adjustments. Support program activities by helping set up snack areas or cleanup transitions. Model teamwork, reliability, and professionalism at all times. Participate in staff meetings and trainings when required.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED (required). Prior experience in food service, childcare, or a related environment (preferred). Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices. Current CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
