Job Description

The Archdiocese of St. Louis Catholic Education and Formation features an expansive coalition of schools that allow our children to develop a sense of purpose and value, receive a higher quality education, join a welcoming community and feel secure in a a dynamic future. We have a rich history, with its establishment 200 years ago by St. Rose Phillppine Duchesne. A coalition of schools serving over 50,000 students (PreK-12) within an 11-county area. The educational experience provided to our students and their families is rooted in a higher calling from God to honor and celebrate the gifts He has given us. Job Summary St John the Baptist Catholic Church, Gildehaus is seeking a mission-driven Middle School Science and Language Arts Teacher for grades 6-8. This educator will provide engaging, rigorous instruction in both content areas while fostering critical thinking, literacy development, and a love of learning. The ideal candidate supports the mission of Catholic education and creates a structured, faith-centered classroom environment that meets the diverse needs of students. Job Responsibilities Deliver high-quality instruction in science and language arts aligned with curriculum standards Design engaging lessons, including hands-on science activities and literacy-based learning experiences Support student growth in reading, writing, critical thinking, and communication skills Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities Use a variety of assessments to monitor progress and provide timely feedback Incorporate technology and instructional strategies to enhance learning Maintain accurate records, including lesson plans, grades, and student progress Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary planning and student support Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and administration Foster a positive, respectful, and faith-centered classroom environment Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development Model and uphold the mission and values of Catholic education Job Requirements Bachelor's degree in Education, Science, English/Language Arts, or related field required Valid Missouri teaching certification (or eligibility) Experience teaching middle school students preferred Strong understanding of literacy instruction and STEM-based learning Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills Ability to support diverse learners and adapt instruction as needed Commitment to Catholic education and student faith formation The Archdiocese of St. Louis Catholic Education and Formation is an Equal Opportunity Employer and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any kind.
