Full Job Description About WSA:
Wilmington School of the Arts is a tuition-free, public charter school. We offer a public school education with the opportunity for project based learning and arts integrated curricula and lessons. WSA infuses music, language, dance, and visual arts into our everyday academic curriculum, while also ensuring that students get their academic needs met by following all NC grade level content standards. Multiple Intelligences are recognized and honored, as we believe each child learns differently. It is our goal to provide each student with a holistic educational experience; creating a safe, accepting, nurturing environment for every child. Wilmington School of the Arts is seeking a committed, team-oriented Middle Grades Teacher to deliver Science instruction to our sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students. We have one class of each grade level, and this teacher would serve on a team of 3 lead teachers to collaborate and plan for the year. Wilmington school of the Arts is a small tight knit family feel, with very active families and staff members, so collaboration is important to our team. As a Title1, Public Charter school, we do take the EOGs at the end of each year and are committed to ensuring the academic success of our students. Our

Our Fifth Grade Teacher must be able to: Collaborate with the grade level team, the school administrative team, and all support staff members Have knowledge of grade level content, as well as ways to differentiate and deliver instruction Create lesson plans aligned with grade level state standards, and utilize all school-provided curricula and resources Create a safe and positive learning environment for students Manage instructional time with the school-given schedule Grade student assignments based on standards proficiency and mastery Design projects and hands-on activities based on state content grade level standards Assess student progress and differentiate instruction to increase student outcomes Be student-centered and advocate for the best interest of students within their class Have a thoughtful, and caring demeanor when dealing with students and parents. Our school uses positive discipline as our model for student and family interactions, and we expect all staff to be a part of upholding this culture Work with a diverse group of learners and be willing to problem solve within a team to help those learners be successful Non-certified teachers are welcome to apply, however WSA prefers to have all core teachers be certified in their content areas.
