Extended Day Staff Job Summary Woodland Country Day School is seeking an enthusiastic, dependable, and caring individual to join our Extended Day program. Extended Day Staff are responsible for creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for students after the regular school day. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, has a positive and energetic attitude, and can balance structured activities with opportunities for play and social interaction. This position is an important part of our school community and provides students with a supportive environment where they can relax, complete homework, participate in activities, and enjoy time with their peers. Responsibilities Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of students throughout the Extended Day program. Create and lead age-appropriate games, crafts, recreational activities, and other enrichment opportunities. Provide homework assistance and encourage students to develop positive study habits. Promote respectful behavior and positive interactions among students through consistent and supportive behavior management. Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment, including preparing and cleaning activity areas. Follow all school policies and procedures related to student supervision, safety, and emergency situations. Administer basic first aid as needed and respond appropriately to emergencies, including following CPR and AED procedures when necessary. Communicate effectively and professionally with students, families, faculty, and other Extended Day staff. Support a positive school culture by modeling kindness, responsibility, patience, and respect. Assist with transitions, snack time, outdoor play, and other daily Extended Day routines. Perform other duties as assigned by the school administration. Qualifications and Experience Previous experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, recreational, or youth program setting is preferred. Ability to effectively supervise and engage groups of children. Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills. Patient, dependable, energetic, and able to work well as part of a team. Comfortable leading both structured activities and recreational play. Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification is preferred or willingness to obtain certification. Ability to maintain a safe and positive environment for students of varying ages and needs. Position Expectations Extended Day Staff must be reliable and consistent in attendance, demonstrate sound judgment, and maintain a professional and positive attitude. Staff members are expected to actively engage with students rather than simply supervise, helping to make the Extended Day experience a fun, safe, and meaningful part of each child's day.
