Haddonfield, New Jersey 08033 http://www.hfsfriends.org Haddonfield Friends School continues a 250- year tradition of educating a diverse population in the Quaker tradition. The School currently enrolls students age 2 through grade 8. 7th and 8th Grade Science Teacher Haddonfield Friends School is seeking a Middle School Science teacher for the 26-27 school year. Responsibilities include teaching the 7th and 8th grade Science curriculum, including related lab experiments and oversight of the Coriell Science Fair. The qualified teacher will be a reflective practitioner with an understanding of and strong affinity for Quaker philosophy, a strong desire to engage in lifelong learning, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues as part of the Middle School Team.
Strong candidates will bring:
2-4 years teaching experience in the Middle School classroom Genuine understanding of adolescent development and respectful behavior management In-depth knowledge of science concepts and skills, the scientific method, and safe laboratory practices to support curriculum taught at this level Willingness to collaborate with a team and co-teach as needed Rich repertoire of teaching strategies to address a variety of learning styles and needs Understanding of how to build relationships with students from a positive and strengths-based perspective Strong understanding of formative and summative assessment practices Solid communication skills - willingness to communicate with parents weekly Strong technology skills and experience with technology integration in the classroom and use of varied platforms in virtual learning Commitment to continuous professional learning and reflective discussion around practice, including understanding and application of current research Able to meet varied demands with integrity, enthusiasm, creativity, flexibility, and humor Ability to teach to the whole child, including enthusiasm for project-based learning, field trip planning, service integration, and extra-curricular availability Qualified Applicants should submit the following: A cover letter to Matthew Sharp, Head of School; resume/curriculum vitae; statement of educational philosophy; teaching certificate; and three letters of recommendation to: Matthew Sharp, Head of School, Haddonfield Friends School Send application materials via: (Include 'MS Science Teacher' in the subject line.)
