The Lewis School and Clinic of Princeton is a pioneer in neuroscience evidence-based education for bright students with language-learning differences related to dyslexia, auditory processing, reading, spelling disorders, dyscalculia and ADHD. We utilize proprietary, multisensory, evidence-based instruction designed to repair weaknesses in language processing, and to cultivate the remarkable and diverse intelligences, creativity, and original thinking among our students. This role includes designing interdisciplinary language, literature and writing units of study to create structured, cohesive programming in a classroom environment that promotes mutually respectful peer interaction and community; documenting student learning; participating fully in the life of the school by working in collaboration with colleagues, fulfilling duties, and attending events, in-service days, and meetings. Candidate Responsibilities
- Work with current faculty to facilitate proprietary multisensory Lewis Learning™ approaches that integrate with the school-wide use of Vibe Classroom Technology.
- Admissions and administrative support, marketing, and public outreach events.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that inspire curiosity, research and original writing.
- Ensure that lessons cater to the needs of individual students with varying abilities.
- Assess and record students' progress and provide feedback and advice to students, peers and parents.
- Integrate Vibe technology with evidence-based multisensory Lewis Proprietary Teaching and Learning Approaches (Professional Development and Training will be provided as needed).
- Ideal candidate will have the opportunity to develop new learning programs that integrate technology in the learning process without compromising Lewis Proprietary Education. Ideal Candidate Qualifications
- Master's/PhD in English Literature and Written Language are preferred; Bachelor's degree with experience also welcome to apply.
- New Jersey Department of Education Certification
- Familiarity and/or training in Orton-Gillingham, Lindamood-Bell and Wilson Language Programs are an advantage.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills both as a teacher and a presenter.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students. Strong organizational, structured classroom management skills.
- Strong leadership and dynamic teaching professional who has expertise designing interdisciplinary learning experiences, and is adept at encouraging student interaction and collaboration.
- Has proven expertise in the teaching of English, Literature, Verbal Analysis, Research and Essay Writing, Original Prose, Poetry and Narrative as demonstrated by prior experience.
- Strong sense of school community.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- College-planning, counseling and student SAT/ACT PREP and application process an advantage.
