Company Overview Chautauqua Striders, Inc. is a not-for-profit community organization based in Jamestown, New York, dedicated to mentoring and guidance of youth through education, advocacy, and athletics. Since its founding in 1979 as a local track club, we have expanded our services to provide tutoring, mentoring, outreach, and athletic programs to over 1,200 youth annually. Summary As an After School Program Staff member at Chautauqua Striders, Inc., you will play a vital role in supporting our mission through educational and athletic initiatives. The shift for this position is typically Monday-Thursday between 3:00 PM - 5:30 PM and will be held at various elementary and middle schools in Jamestown.
Responsibilities Main Responsibility :
Implement relevant activities and drills that promote physical fitness, teamwork, and fun.
Supervision:
Oversee students during activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
Instruction:
Provide clear instructions and demonstrations for all activities, adapting to the varying skill levels of students.
Encouragement:
Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere, encouraging all students to participate and achieve their personal best.
Assessment:
Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and support to help them improve.
Communication:
Maintain open communication with after school staff regarding student progress and program updates.
Equipment Management:
Ensure all equipment is used properly and maintained in good condition. Qualifications Experience working with children in educational or recreational settings. Proficient in behavior management techniques to maintain an effective learning environment. Background in athletics, education or related fields is preferred. Basic first aid certification is a plus but not required. Experience in sports coaching or recreational activities is beneficial but not mandatory.
