Job Description

Overview:
The Middle School Science Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based science instruction to students in grades 6-8. This position focuses on fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills through hands-on learning experiences and inquiry-based instruction. The teacher creates a supportive and structured classroom environment that meets the academic and developmental needs of middle school learners while promoting a love for science.
Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver effective science instruction aligned to state standards and district curriculum Develop and implement engaging lessons that include hands-on experiments, inquiry-based learning, and real-world applications Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, social, and emotional needs of students Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments and adjust instruction accordingly Maintain a positive, structured classroom environment that promotes student engagement and respectful behavior Integrate technology and STEM-related practices to enhance instruction Collaborate with grade-level teams, special education staff, and other support personnel to support student success Communicate regularly with students, families, and colleagues regarding student progress and classroom activities Participate in professional development, team meetings, and school initiatives Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress Supervise students in various settings, including classrooms, labs, and school activities
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field Valid state teaching license with appropriate science certification for middle grades Knowledge of middle school science content and instructional best practices Strong classroom management and organizational skills Effective communication and collaboration skills
Preferred:
Experience teaching middle school science Experience with inquiry-based or project-based learning Familiarity with integrating technology into instruction Knowledge of
STEM/STEAM
instructional practices
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand and move throughout the classroom for extended periods Ability to lift and carry classroom materials and lab equipment (up to 25 pounds) Ability to demonstrate and assist with science experiments and activities Ability to operate classroom and instructional technology
Working Conditions:
School classroom and laboratory environment Exposure to typical classroom noise levels Occasional exposure to materials used in science experiments (with proper safety protocols) Interaction with students, staff, and families on a regular basis Participation in school events, meetings, and professional development outside of regular school hours as needed Apply Now
