Position Start Date:
August 28, 2026 Job Summary The co-teacher is responsible for working with the head teacher to provide instruction that is respectful, achievable, and developmentally appropriate for the students in their classroom and that adheres to the curriculum for the grade/age and Benchmark School's mission and philosophy. The co-teacher is part of the teaching team that includes the head teacher, Department or Division Head, Child and Family Support Services, and other teachers of the class. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Collaborate with the head teachers to plan and teach small-group or whole-class lessons Assist students with independent or collaborative work Monitor student engagement Assume head teacher responsibilities as needed Record and share observations and information with the head teacher Meet regularly with the head teachers to discuss student progress and curriculum Write academic reports in LA Participate in parent conferences in LA Will be asked to perform additional duties before, during, or after school as needed (for example, parent conferences, back-to-school night, etc.) Perform clerical duties, including checking homework folders, recording and checking homework, etc. Communicate with parents as needed Teach or co-teach additional periods during the day in math, social studies, or science, including small group math classes If a head teacher in a small math class or content area, write content area reports Attend Professional Development sessions and co-teacher seminars Attend meetings of the classroom team Qualifications Bachelor's Degree required Master's Degree preferred ApplicationWriting Response Please apply via the link below, and provide the following: A current resume Three professional references, including names, telephone numbers, and email addresses In addition to a standard cover letter, please respond to the following questions in no more than 500 words.
