Job Description

Nations Ministry Center is hiring staff to join our summer literacy program for refugee and immigrant youth. Nations Ministry Center helps refugee and immigrant children become grade level readers and adjust to their new lives in Nashville through individualized literacy instruction, social emotional learning, and work readiness.
Responsibilities include:
Creating a safe environment in which refugee youth can thrive academically and socially Reading with middle school children and assisting with an on-line literacy program Facilitating games and enhancement activities (STEM projects, SEL activities, sports, etc) Supervising field trips Tracking youth progress and working toward meeting grant outcomes Driving a 14-passenger minibus (a CDL is not required) or van to bring students to and from our site Other duties as assigned
Schedule:
Monday-Thursday 7:15a-4:00p (35 hours a week). Summer program dates are June 8 - July 16. Training and onboarding will start in late May. Compensation starts at $19 an hour. Accommodations can also be made to meet internship requirements. There is also availability for part-time positions year round in our after-school program.
Qualifications:
Must have compassion for children who have lived through traumatic events and be willing to be trained in the most effective ways to respond. Applicant must be able to pass a background check and have a clean driving record. Preference will be given to candidates that have a refugee or immigrant background and/or are proficient in one or more of the following languages: Spanish, Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Arabic, Nepali, Burmese, Karen, Zomi, or Somali.
