Primary Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Early College High School teachers are instrumental in delivering a blended curriculum that integrates high school and college-level coursework. They support students, particularly those underrepresented in higher education, in earning both a high school diploma and up to 60 college credit hours or associate degree. This role demands a commitment to academic excellence, student mentorship, and collaboration with higher educational partners.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
Valid Texas Teaching Certificate for subject and level assigned
Preferred eligibility to teach dual credit courses which require:
Master's degree in teaching discipline, or
Master's degree in any field with at least 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline
Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of core academic subjects assigned
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
At least one year student teaching or approved internship
Previous teaching experience at the high school or college level is preferred.
Familiarity with dual credit programs and curriculum standards.
