Pine Tree ISD, Longview, TX Position Overview Pine Tree High School is seeking an Automotive Technology Teacher to join our Career and Technical Education (CTE) team for the 2026-2027 school year. This position is being added as a second teacher within Pine Tree High School's Automotive Technology program , allowing the program to expand student opportunities, strengthen hands-on instruction, and provide greater support across the four-year automotive pathway. The ideal candidate will bring relevant automotive industry experience, strong technical knowledge, and a desire to help students develop the skills, professionalism, and work habits needed for success in the automotive industry. Scope of Responsibilities Teach high school Automotive Technology courses within Pine Tree High School's four-year Automotive Program of Study. Provide engaging, hands-on instruction in: Automotive maintenance, Repair procedures, Diagnostics, Tools and equipment, Shop safety, and Industry practices. Blend technical theory with practical shop experience so students understand both how automotive systems work and how to properly inspect, diagnose, service, and repair vehicles. Collaborate closely with the program's other Automotive Technology teacher to coordinate: Curriculum, Shop use, Equipment, Student projects, Program operations Help establish and maintain consistent instructional, safety, and shop procedures across all automotive courses. Model professional automotive shop expectations related to: Safety, Cleanliness, Organization, Tool accountability, Customer service, and Quality of work Supervise students during laboratory and shop activities while maintaining a safe, productive, and professional learning environment. Teach students proper use, care, and storage of automotive tools, diagnostic equipment, lifts, and other program resources. Support students in developing employability skills such as: Communication, Teamwork, Dependability, Problem-solving, Time management, and Professionalism Assist with maintaining automotive facilities, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, inventory, and instructional resources. Help connect classroom instruction to industry certifications, work-based learning opportunities, and postsecondary automotive pathways. Build and maintain relationships with local dealerships, repair facilities, industry professionals, colleges, and community partners. Support student participation in automotive-related Career and Technical Student Organizations, competitions, leadership activities, and other extracurricular opportunities as assigned. Provide mentorship and career guidance to students interested in automotive service, transportation, and related industries. Maintain an "all in" attitude. When everyone helps a little, the biggest challenges can be overcome. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience Verifiable, relevant work experience in the automotive industry may be considered toward applicable education or certification requirements. Professional experience in one or more of the following areas is strongly preferred: Automotive service, Repair, Diagnostics, Dealership operations, Fleet maintenance, and Related automotive fields Previous teaching, training, mentoring, or supervisory experience is preferred but not required. Certifications Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification preferred. Appropriate Texas educator certification or eligibility for certification through an applicable Career and Technical Education certification pathway is preferred. Skills & Requirements Strong knowledge of automotive systems, maintenance, diagnostics, repair procedures, tools, and shop safety. Ability to translate automotive industry knowledge into clear, engaging instruction for high school students. Ability to manage students effectively in a hands-on shop environment. Commitment to maintaining high standards for safety, cleanliness, organization, and professionalism. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a partner Automotive Technology teacher and the broader CTE team. Ability to build positive relationships with students while maintaining clear expectations and accountability. About the Automotive Technology Program Pine Tree High School's Automotive Technology program is a four-year pathway designed for students beginning in ninth grade and continuing through twelfth grade. Students progressively develop automotive knowledge and technical skills through: Classroom instruction Hands-on laboratory experiences Shop-based learning Increasingly advanced automotive coursework Career exploration Industry-aligned skill development New Automotive Facility Pine Tree High School opened a new Automotive Technology facility in January 2026.

The purpose-built instructional space includes:

Four automotive service bays Dedicated classroom space Outdoor storage A service counter Shop and instructional areas designed to support authentic automotive training experiences The facility gives students the opportunity to learn in an environment intentionally designed to reflect the expectations of a professional automotive service setting. Two-Teacher Program Beginning in the 2026-2027 school year, Pine Tree ISD is expanding the program to include two Automotive Technology teachers.
