Job Description

Ready to Start Your Career with the City of Temple? Summary Senior Youth Leader, under the supervision of a Recreation Specialist and Program Coordinator, will lead and supervise Afterschool participants, and other various recreational activities. This is a seasonal position. Must be available to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays and help in other divisions as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Ensures the safety and well-being of program participants Supervises children aged 5-13 in various indoor and outdoor settings, adapting to different weather conditions Develops, leads, and supervises at assigned recreation programs/activities, after school sites, recreation centers, rental facilities, and events for participants of all ages Serves meals and snacks to program participants as needed Leads and supervises assigned Youth Leader team Develops and implements lesson plans for children ages 5-13 in areas of recreation, adventure, education, and enrichment Provides exceptional service without exception; effectively communicates with children, parents, co-workers, and other City employees Receives money, records registration, and membership information Performs facility attendant duties for recreation centers and rental facilities Oversees inventory and property management. Performs daily tasks to include cleaning, answering phones, and general office related tasks Maintains essential records, prepares reports as required; to include but not limited to participation reports, usage reports, accident reports, and work orders Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Completion of two (2) years of high school Equivalent of one season working in a childcare environment (one (1) school year) Preferred Qualifications One (1) year experience working in a related field Bilingual in English and Spanish Certificates and Licenses Valid driver's license CPR and First aid or able to attain within 90 days Food handler license or able to attain within 90 days Thank you for your interest in the position.
