Job Description

The
SUU STEM
Center is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Part-Time ACT Prep Teacher to help high school students prepare for success on the ACT exam. This position involves teaching 9 prep classes throughout the school year—7 held in person at Cedar High School and Canyon View High School, and 2 delivered online to students across a six-county region. Classes would be taught in the school day at the high school during homework FLEX and XLT time and in the evenings from 5-8:30 PM. These are 2-6 week classes.
Schedule:
9 Classes Annually (7 In-Person, 2 Online). Classes would be taught both during the day and in the evenings at the local high schools. Develop and deliver engaging and effective ACT prep instruction in English, Math, Reading, and Science sections of the test. Must be able to work all scheduled ACT Prep classes during FLEX at CVHS and XLT at CHS (2:00-2:45 PM) times and in the evenings from 5-8:30 PM. During the full 2-6 week courses. Comfortable teaching and preparing lessons and classwork for ACT Prep class and working with our current programs/plans. (We use Albert.io and google classroom). Must be able to pass a background check through ICSD and SUU. Dependable and punctual, friendly, good communication skills a must, enjoy working with high school age students. Must be able to maintain a clean and neat, professional appearance. Comfortable teaching online and using basic technology. Adapt content to suit both in-person and virtual learning environments. Maintain a positive and motivating classroom environment and partnership with school administration. Minimum Qualifications High school teaching license or experience teaching in English or a STEM field (Math or Science). Experience teaching high school students. Strong knowledge of ACT content and test-taking strategies. Comfortable with online teaching tools and platforms. All positions are contingent on funding.
