Position Overview:

Diamond Ridge High School is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable part-time Culinary Arts Teacher to join our Career and Technical Education (CTE) team. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore the world of food preparation, nutrition, and kitchen safety, while preparing them for future careers in the culinary and hospitality industries. Join us in shaping the next generation of chefs and food professionals!

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with state and national standards Teach culinary fundamentals including food safety, knife skills, cooking techniques, and nutrition Manage a fully equipped kitchen classroom, ensuring safety and cleanliness at all times Supervise hands-on cooking labs, student projects, and catering events Grocery shop for cooking labs Maintain accurate student records and assessments Collaborate with other staff to support school-wide initiatives Encourage career readiness and assist students with industry certifications and work-based learning opportunities

Preferred Skills:

Valid Utah teaching certification in Family & Consumer Sciences or Culinary Arts CTE Endorsement Culinary industry experience or formal training (preferred) ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain Strong classroom management and communication skills Passion for working with high school students in a diverse learning environment

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Incumbent must be fingerprinted and clear a criminal backgrounds check. Requires at least a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Requires a valid Associate or Professional Educator License for the State of Utah within the relevant "License Area of Concentration" and, if applicable, "Endorsement". PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The teacher is occasionally required to use hands to handle or feel and must occasionally climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Teachers in P.E., CTE, Theatre and/or Art may be required to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Physical ability to perform the essential functions listed above with or without reasonable accommodation. Requires the ability to lift a minimum of ten (10) pounds.
